Ghanaian newspapers were on Tuesday awash with articles dedicated to the visit of the Togolese President Faure Gnassingbe and the arrest of renowned hip life musician Kwaw Kesse for smoking cannabis in public.Ghana’s most circulated newspaper The Daily Graphic gave prominence to Faure’s splashing pictures of him and President Mahama on its front page.
The paper reported that the Togolese leader arrived in Accra on Monday for a three-day state visit.
A downpour in the afternoon delayed his arrival and also shelved some of the activities lined up for the grand welcome ceremony.
According to the paper, President Mahama received Gnassingbe on arrival at the Golden Jubilee Lounge of the Kotoka International Airport at exactly at 3.40pm.
The Chronicle, Daily Guide and Daily Graphic newspaper gave coverage to the arrest of hip life artiste, Kwaw Kesse with Graphic reporting that hip life artiste Emmanuel Botwe, popularly known as Kwaw Kesse was on Monday remanded in prison custody by the Kumasi Circuit Court for unlawful use of a substance suspected to be cannabis.
According to the paper, his plea was not taken and the presiding judge, Mr. William Boampong deferred ruling on the application for bail by his counsel Nana Kwasi Boaitey, to December 8, 2014.
