Tunisia VS Togo referee

StarAfricaCAF announced their decisions regarding the controversial 2015 AFCON quarter-final match between Equatorial Guinea and Tunisia that ended in the added time in favor of the hosts.

Carthage Eagles were 3 minutes away from qualification before referee, Seechurn Rajindrapasard (Mauritius), awarded the National Thunder a controversial penalty that Balboa coverted calmly into the equalizer before the same player offered his team the qualification ticket with a well-taken free-kick in the added time.

The drama continued after the game with Tunisian players insulting and chasing after the referee and Equatorial Guinea supporters storming the pitch. The president of the Tunisian Football Federation, Wadie Jary, also left the Organising Committee of the AFCON after crtisizing the referee and CAF.

And after a meeting in CAF’s headquarters in Bata, the Disciplinary Board decided to:

  • Suspend him for a period of six (6) months for poor performance
  • Delist him from the CAF “A” Elite Referees panel.

Regarding The Tunisian Football Federation:

  • Cover the costs of repairing the damage caused by the Tunisian party at the stadium in Bata.
